I wrote this after the AFC Championship game but didn’t want to post it at the time:

The Patriots won...but at least I don't have to see people use that stupid line about how "The Patriots haven't beaten anyone with an above-.500 record," despite the fact the Jets (8-6), Broncos (8-7), Chargers (8-7), Raiders (8-7), Eagles (8-7), and Cowboys (8-7) all had above-.500 records if you don’t include their games versus the Patriots.

In fact, if the Patriots had lost their second game vs. the Jets on Nov. 13th (but still won the first matchup on Oct. 9th) then the Jets would have finished 9-7, which would have given the Patriots a win against an above-.500 team.  So the REAL-LIFE Patriots were better than a HYPOTHETICAL Patriots team that (in this scenario) had a win against an above-.500 team.
