Participatory Budgeting

Back in the spring, I went into library and they were handing out voting forms for Participatory Budgeting.  You could cast up to five votes for projects that you wanted to get funding.   A few of the proposals were for renovating libraries--such as fixing the air conditioning at the Muhlenberg Branch--and I remember thinking that they were stacking the deck a bit by giving out the ballots in a library.  Then again...where else can you realistically hand out ballots?  At a laundromat?

I looked up the results, and wouldn't you know it...two of the five winners were "Cool Muhlenberg Library. Renovate HVAC System" and "A New Library for City Knoll School." Take that, Chelsea basketball courts!
